About the Area Health Advisory Council

With the amalgamation of Area Health Services in NSW, the Minister for Health announced the establishment of Area Health Advisory Councils (AHACs), under the Health Services Act 1997. This was done to facilitate the involvement of providers, consumers of health services and other members of the local community, in the development of the Area Health Service’s policies, plans and future initiatives.

As the Chair of the Council, I aim to ensure that both the community and clinicians are actively involved providing advice to the Area Health Service. To assist with this goal, the AHAC has developed a work plan of activities for the next two years. As a Council we look forward to engaging with the residents of Sydney South West Area to ensure that the Area Health Service continues to provide the best quality health care.

I encourage visitors to browse the documents below and learn more about the role of the AHAC. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any comments or feedback that you have for the Council.
