• 18 year old Motor Cross Rider : Rope Injury to Neck
• 21 year old Driver : Mini-Minor into Metal Fence
• 28 year old Abdominal Stabbing
• 34 year old Army Private: Gunshot Wound to Abdomen
• 45 year old Construction Worker : Crush Injury
• 45 year old Metal Worker : Angle Grinder Injury to Right Groin
• 38 year old Gunshot Wound to Abdomen
• 40 year old male Pedestrian Hit by a Truck

An unknown 40 year old male has been hit by a Truck!

• 23:50 - The Ambulance Officers receive the "Call Out"

• 00:00 - The Ambulance Officers arrive at the scene

  Initial Assessment:

  • Airway Intact
  • Difficulty with breathing
  • P 140 BP 80
  • GCS 12
  • Bleeding from the head and Left Leg

  Intervention:

  • Cervical Collar applied
  • High Flow Oxygen administered
  • MAST (PASG) suit applied and 1300ml of Haemaccel administered

• 00.17 - The Ambulance leaves the scene
• 00.40 - The patient arrives in the resucitation room

  Initial Assessment:

  1. Airway Intact and Cervical Spine protected
  2. Reduced Air Entry Left Chest
  3. P 145 BP 85
  4. Responding to Painful Stimuli
  5. Bleeding from scalp laceration and Compound fracture Left Leg

• Would you intubate him immediately?
• Would you put in a chest drain or do a CXR first?
• What IV access do you need and what fluid resucitation would you give him?
• Should he go straight to the Operating Theatre?
