Strategic partnerships

Strategic partnershipsA partnership occurs when two or more groups agree to work together to achieve common goals. Much benefit can be attained through the sharing of expertise, skills and resources. Partnerships create opportunities for new and creative action, and hold the promise that greater numbers can make greater change.

Many factors influence the health and wellbeing of communities such as income, employment, education, housing, access to services etc. Therefore, health services need to work collaboratively within and beyond the health system to better link and coordinate services and improve health.

In SSWAHS, working in collaboration with key stakeholders is an important part of health promotion work. Partnerships are essential to achieving positive health outcomes in all health promotion priority areas.

In 2008, the Strategic Partnerships Stream was created to support and extend the partnership work of the Health Promotion Service and increase its strategic focus. Our work is guided by the Strategic Partnerships Team Action Plan 2008 -2011.
